Thugs kill businessman in Bweyogerere

KAMPALA. Fear engulfed residents of Kasubi village, Bweyogerere Division in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District on Monday morning when a renowned businessman was found dead inside his house.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, Julius Nuwagaba was perhaps murdered by his close friends or relatives since there were no signs of forced entry.

He said residents learnt of Nuwagaba’s death in the wee hours of Monday night h and alerted Bweyogerere police that took the body to Mulago hospital for post mortem as part of investigation into the crime.

Mr Owoyesigyire said preliminary investigations indicate that Nuwagaba was attacked by people who perhaps knew he had money which he was to spend on purchasing Waragi (local liquor) for his shop.

Nuwagaba was renowned for selling alcoholic drinks particularly Waragi and could purchase new stock every Monday. Police said his killers seem to have studied him and he perhaps opened for them when they knocked on his house since he probably knew them.

Mr Owoyesigyire said police was already recording statement from eye witnesses and residents to ensure Nuwagaba killers are apprehended and charged with among other crimes murder and aggravated robbery.
