96 schools register most improved PLE performance

Kampala. At least 96 primary schools that were listed among the worst performers in 2017 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) have made a turnaround in the 2018 results.
The PLE results released by Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) last Thursday indicate a general improvement in performance of candidates countrywide.
Daily Monitor analysed the ranking of school performance by percentage pass in 2018 compared to the previous year looking at schools that had registered less than 10 per cent pass rate in 2017.
The analysis found that Buyala Junior Primary School in Mpigi District made a tremendous improvement by rising from seven per cent pass rate in 2017 to 90 per cent in 2018.
Konge Parents Academy in Kampala came second after rising from eight per cent pass rate in 2017 to 69 per cent in 2018 and is followed by Nyakateete Bright Future Primary School in Mitooma District (eight to 63 per cent).
In fourth place, Kafunjo Primary School in Mbarara Municipality and Kahinju Primary School in Fort Portal Municipality, both improved from eight per cent to 59 per cent.
Another school that hit the 59 per cent pass rate is Magale Primary School in Namisindwa District which shot up from nine per cent.
Others are Kasimeri Primary School in Moroto District (eight- to 56 per cent), Nazingo Noor Islamic School in Kayunga District (nine to 53 per cent, and Kayanja Primary School in Buhweju District (nine to 50 per cent).
