Anger, grief as man shot for scratching another car is mourned

Grief engulfed Our Lady of Africa Church, Mbuya as relatives, colleagues and well-wishers gathered for the requiem mass of the late Kenneth Akena who was allegedly shot at Game Stores Lugogo on Saturday by Mr Matthew Kanyamunyu.

Among people present were; Kitgum Municipality Member of Parliament, Beatrice Anywar, and Aruu County Member of Parliament, Odonga Otto. The main celebrant was Fr Paulino Mondo.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Kitgum District where it will be buried tomorrow.

Mr Kanyamunyu, reportedly shot Akena after the deceased accidentally knocked his vehicle. The brother of the deceased John Paul Nyeko told police that Akena made a dying declaration in hospital.

A dying declaration is an exception to the hearsay rule considered credible and trustworthy evidence based upon the general belief that most people who know that they are about to die do not lie.
