Bishop Cyprian Kikuni Bamwoze got a befitting send-off of an official state burial complete with a 21 gun salute at Bugembe Cathedral in Jinja District yesterday.
“Government recognised Bamwoze’s gallant contribution to service delivery, initiating many programmes and interventions that government took on in its policies and had full blessing of President Museveni who attended in person his State service and recognition in Parliament,” Ms Rebecca Kadaga, the Speaker of Parliament and chairperson of Busoga Caucus, said.
Ms Kadaga, who was the chief mourner, said Bamwoze was a self-made man whose commitment to the rural communities is unrivalled and he touched so many lives to deserve and merit the State funeral.
Kadaga cited his unfinished work, saying it was interrupted, especially the Busoga integrated Rural Development Centre at Naminage and writing a Lusoga dictionary which must be completed to sustain his legacy.

He said it was not a coincidence that he passed on during the Janani Luwum week because he was with him when he was martyred.
