Bishop warns Ugandan youths over rush for Middle East jobs

The Bishop of West Ankole Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni, has warned the youths against rushing to seek jobs in foreign countries, saying a good number of youths from Uganda have suffered at the hands of their “bosses” especially in the Middle East.

Bishop Twinomujuni said that the youths have been misguided to believe that they can be rich and prosperous only when they go to work in the Middle East and many have consequently regretted.
The Bishop was speaking to over five thousand youths that turned up for the Diocesan 13th annual Youths and Students’ Convention held at the diocesan headquarters, Bweranyangi in Bushenyi-ishaka municipality on Friday.
The convention with the theme “Do all in the Lord” depicted from Colossians 3:17 started on Thursday and it will end on Monday.

“I have seen many youths leave their fathers’ homes rushing abroad seeking jobs, only to be disappointed, yet one would use the available resources around his father’s home to get rich. We have evidence, some of you have watched clips of our children being tortured. I watched one girl whose body was being cut into pieces because a child she was taking care of got an accident.
Many cases of this nature have been registered. A wise youth will go to school, come home or somewhere else and use the available resources to get rich without necessarily going abroad.” Bishop Twinomujuni told the gathering.

He added “Your country and home have what is required for one to get rich. It is just a matter of working hard with positivity. Those who are thinking of working in the Middle East should stand warned. It really hurts me when I see our children being tortured in such areas, where a number continue to lose their lives.”
He also advised the youth to avoid joining mushrooming churches, which belong to individuals with false teachings. The Bishop noted that some false pastors have come on board to maul innocent, but desperate people. Bishop Twinomujuni has recently been in the limelight for criticizing Pastor Aloysious Bugingo accusing him of misleading God’s people with wrong doctrines surrounding marriage vows.

Speaking at the same convention, Mr. Emmanuel Tayebwa Rutamwebwa, a seasoned farmer and entrepreneur advised the participants to work hard so that they can be prosperous in life instead of waiting to be branded slaves and beggars.
The convention, which formed a powerful and transforming gathering attracted youths and Christians from the five districts of Bushenyi Greater including Bushenyi, Sheema, Buhweju, Mitooma and Rubirizi.
