Mr Willis Bashaasha, the director of Manifesto Implementation in the Office of the President, described Muhangi as a self-made man who left school at an early age to become a successful businessman in the transport industry.

“I am personally touched by the news of the death of Muhangi. He left school at an early age to fit into his late father’s shoes. Charles has been a successful businessman in the transport industry and has given jobs to many, paid taxes, thereby becoming a key player in the development of our economy,” Mr Bashaasha said.
Mr Bashaasha, who is former Bushenyi District Council chairperson, told Daily Monitor that the whole of Bushenyi is deeply pained by the demise of Muhangi and the residents will always pride themselves in his achievements.

“To me, the passing on of Muhangi is a loss not only to Bushenyi or Igara, but to the whole nation. I was talking to a Muganda in Yumbe District [northern Uganda] and I noticed that Muhangi was a national figure,” Bishop Katoneene said.

Ms Justine Burisaadi, the Bushenyi District speaker, also eulogized Muhangi, saying he made Bushenyi popular and whatever positive thing that he achieved was an achievement of Bushenyi District. “Bushenyi has lost an employer and friend in Muhangi. He has been a friend and employer of many in Bushenyi District. His transport business has for a long time provided employment to our children and other people coming from Bushenyi. He has supported many families and provided employment to their children. Many families are surviving because Muhangi helped them,” she said.

The Bumbaire sub-county councilor to Bushenyi District Council, Mr Patrick Mwebesa Kizito, said Bushenyi had lost a great man.

“He recently won a court case in Kampala, something that is not easy at all. Winning a property business case in the capital city; and you know that is not done by everyone,” he added.
