Butaleja NRM chairperson dies

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairperson of Butaleja District, Dawson Mauta Muloki has died.

Muloki, 69, succumbed to high blood pressure on Tuesday morning at Masaba Wing Hospital in Mbale Town, where he had been admitted for a week.
Ms Agatha Hamba, the daughter to the deceased, confirmed his demise on social media.

“So today at 10:45am, Mr Muloki Dawson Mauta, gave up the fight and preferred to rest with the angles,” she said in a brief statement on her Facebook account, adding the burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.

Ms Zipola Muloki, the wife to the deceased, said her husband’s death is a big blow to the family.

“My sweet heart is gone and now rests in the Lord’s hands. I will miss him,” Ms Muloki, said.
Ms Muloki described the deceased as hardworking, faithful and loving man, who cared for his family and his people in the district.

“He has been an educationist in the district, who also served ruling government with all his heart,” she said.

The NRM chairperson of Himutu Sub-county, Mr Mugole Wilson hailed the late for having been a loyal member of the party urging other leaders to emulate his political style.

“We have lost a dedicated member of the NRM party, who has sacrificed his personal resources to facilitate the party meetings at the grassroots,’ Mr Mugole.

Mr Muloki is survived by 8 children and a wife. In 2011, he contested for the Bunyole East Parliamentary seat but lost to former MP, Mr Emmanuel Dombo Lumala.

He was a teacher by profession who taught in various primary schools including Mugulu, Namulo in Butaleja district.

He later upgraded and become a principal of several Teachers’ training colleges in the country.

He first served as principal at Kabwangasi Core PTC and later joined Kaliro Teacher’s college.

He also served at Kamuli Teacher’s college, Col Lawrence Teacher’s college in Lira, Mulanda Teacher’s college and Hoima teacher’s college in the same capacity. He retired in 2010.
