EC transfers district registrars

Mbale. The Electoral Commission (EC) has transferred all district returning officers across the country.
Mr Jotham Taremwa, the EC spokesperson, said the transfers are in accordance with Public Service standing orders.
“These are internal policies like in any other organisation. Transfers were done in compliance with public policy,” Mr Taremwa said.
He said 128 district registrars were transferred to new duty stations in line with the law, which states that a returning officer is not supposed to conduct two consecutive elections in an area.
“All the district registrars have reported to their new duty stations because they were tasked to prepare handover reports a week ago upon receipt of their transfer letters,” Mr Taremwa explained.
Those transferred include Mr Mark Muganzi, who moves from Budaka District to Ngora District; Mr Charles Rwebero from Pallisa to Mbale; Mr Abass K Namara from Kamwenge to Rukungiri and Ms Jackie Mbura who leaves Kalungu for Kamwenge.
Mr Muganzi applauded the people of Budaka for offering him support.
“There has been maximum cooperation between the EC and the political key players towards the smooth running of elections in the district. This was quite commendable,” he said.
