Kampala. Former Bubulo East MP Tonny Nsubuga Kipoi has been released on bail by the General Court Martial pending completion of investigations and decision on his application for amnesty.
The Makindye-based military court, chaired by Lt Gen Andrew Gutti, yesterday granted Mr Kipoi temporary release about 15 months since he was remanded after extradition from Botswana.

Mr Kipoi has been accused of plotting to overthrow the government.
Gen Gutti ordered the release of Mr Kipoi without presenting sureties but directed him to report to the court registrar every first Thursday of the month until further orders.

“In reference to the state and defence submissions, we hereby grant a temporary release to the accused person,” ruled Gen Gutti, who based on a submission of Maj Charles Ssekayita, Mr Kipoi’s lawyer.
Prosecution contends that between November 2012 and December 2013 in diverse places in Kampala and upcountry, Mr Kipoi convened meetings to recruit soldiers to overthrow the Government of Uganda.
