Exhumed priest body reburied

Kampala. The body of Catholic priest Peter Kasooli Bwayo, which was exhumed eight months ago, has been reburied in Bwihoghe Village, Bulambuli Town Council in Bulambuli District.
His remains have been under at Mbale Municipal Mortuary since March 23 when the body was exhumed on orders of Mbale Grade One Magistrate, Mr Daniel Epobu, following an application by the deceased’s elder brother, Mr Clement Byawo, to ascertain the cause of death and claims of treasure in the grave.

Family at peace
Rev Fr Mathew Bwayo, the deceased’s next of kin, who presided over the funeral service at a family cemetery on Tuesday, said the family was happy they had finally reburied their brother.
“We are happy that our brother has been reburied. We are also satisfied with the findings because we have nothing else we can do,” he said.
Mr Bwayo also appealed to police to provide security to the grave, saying criminals may dig up and steal the body.
The funeral was only attended by the deceased’s relatives and a few community members.
