FDC defends Besigye cabinet, tells critics to form their own

Kampala. The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has defended former presidential candidate, Dr Kizza Besigye’s appointment of a parallel cabinet at the weekend, following sharp public criticism.
Last Thursday, Dr Besigye announced a “parallel cabinet” of more than 40 people which he said he will work with to defeat President Museveni’s party in the 2021 elections.
Addressing journalists at the FDC headquarters at Najjanankumbi yesterday, the party spokesperson, Mr Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, said Besigye selected the people who have been with him in the struggle since 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.
He said these opposed to it or criticising it are free to go and form their own cabinet that addresses the queries they are raising.
“Our parallel cabinet has caused a lot of excitement among the public but what they should know is that the decision to form this cabinet was reached by FDC and other [political] platforms that sponsored and supported Dr Besigye during 2016,” Mr Ssemujju said.
“Why should one who has not been part of this platform contest that he or she has been left out? They can also form something similar to this or different,” he added.
