FDC strongman Angoliga dies

Salim Angoliga, the former Defence Secretary for the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), is dead.

Angoliga, a former confidant of ex-FDC president, Dr Kizza Besigye’s died Friday morning at his home in Kawempe, Kampala.

According FDC Deputy Secretary General, Mr Harold Kaija, Angoliga succumbed to diabetes and high blood pressure which confined him to bed at Nsambya Hospital for some time before recovering in March this year.

Mr Kaija said Angoliga will be buried at his ancestral home in Yumbe on Saturday.

Mr Kaija described Angoliga as a jolly and yet assertive man who loved the struggle for change.

"It’s sad that he has died at this time when we need more numbers at the frontline. We have lost such a gallant soldier," Mr Kaija said.
