Pupils and teachers of St. Matthias Nursery and Primary School, Mbirizi in Lwengo District have been left in shock after a falling tree branch killed a pupil and injured two others.
The deceased has been identified as Paulina Nakalanda,7, a Primary one pupil.
Those injured and admitted to St. Francis Health Centre III, Mbirizi are; Jovia Zimbe, 9, a Primary Two, and Angel Namuleme of Top Class.
The three were sitting under a mango tree during break time on Friday morning, when they were hit by a falling tree branch.

Colleagues said they were attracted by the cracking sound of a falling branch and tried to alert the victims to flee the shade but it was too late.

Mr Sean Gibson, the school head teacher said the strong wind that swept through the area in the morning led to the falling of the tree branch.
“ We rushed the victims to the neighbouring health unit but one of them was pronounced dead shortly after arrival,” he said.
Mr Paul Kangave, the Southern Regional police spokesperson said they said had taken the deceased’s body to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
