Mr Dickson Ogwang, a former Deputy Ambassador to the United States has run to court, seeking an end to what he calls a bad marriage.
Mr Ogwang was early last year forced to return home (to Uganda) by the State Department of the United States of America following reports of battering his wife.

However, in an application dated December 9, 2019 filed before the Chief Magistrates Court in Mengo, Mr Ogwang wants his marriage with Ms Miriam Pheona Otengo dissolved.
The ambassador has cited verbal assault from Ms Otengo and alleged involvement in extra-marital affairs.
“The respondent (Ms Otengo) on several occasions verbally assaulted the petitioner and published several hurtful defamatory statements both on social media and mainstream media,” reads Mr Ogwang’s application in part.

Mr Ogwang adds, “...the respondent at one point abdicated her responsibility as a mother and a wife by abandoning her two children who were both under two years old.”
The Ambassador states that while back in Uganda, Ms Otengo “embarked on acts inconsistent of a married woman. This included getting involved in extra marital affairs with a Kenyan man.”
Upon his recall, Mr Ogwang, was posted at the Diaspora Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He says that their marriage has collapsed since February 2018 and that having lived separately “without any form of association whatsoever, there remains no hope to live together again as husband and wife.”

In his petition, Mr Ogwang wants court to let him retain ownership of his Gayaza home so that he can raise his two children and that Otengo retains the property at Naalya with children from her previous relations.

The respondent is expected to file her defence before court sits to hear the matter in the first week of January 2020.
Our repeated phone calls and text messages to Ms Otengo’s known telephone number went unanswered. She’s reported to be out of the country.

However, in a recent interview with NTV Uganda, Ms Otengo accused Mr Ogwang of physical abuse and cheating on her with another married woman.

She told NTV Mwasuze Mutya in November this year that Mr Ogwang would use her as a sex toy after phone romance with other women.

“He would go to the bathroom and do all the phone romance with another woman then comes to finish with me. I was too weak to resist his sexual advances. The woman would sometimes call at 2am. I tried all I could to save our marriage in vain. I even reached a point of contacting the other woman on phone to convince her to leave my husband but failed,” she said.
