Four suspected armed robbers killed in Mutundwe

Security operatives Tuesday shot dead four men who were reportedly on a robbery mission in Mutundwe, Rubaga Division in Kampala.

According to police spokesman, Mr Fred Enanga, UPDF soldiers led the operation and trailed the armed thugs from Gaba and intercepted them at Mutundwe.

He said the armed suspected robbers were travelling in a Toyota Wish vehicle Reg. No. UBE 808F.

According to Mr Enanga, security officers tried to intercept them in Mutundwe. When they failed to stop, a swift chase punctuated by sporadic gun fire exchange ensued.

At Mutundwe hill, according to police, the men were cornered and shot dead.

 A star pistol no. 32002896 old model and the Toyota WISH vehicle were recovered at the scene.

Police identified the men as Stephen Wandera of Mengo, Lameck Mayanja of Kabalagala, Dick Mugalu of Makindye and Ismail Segirinya.

“Security officers got intelligence and tried to intercept them in their motor vehicles UBE 808F, Toyora WISH, UAN 368H Caldina black in colour. Thugs declined to stop prompting a chase with the security team while on gun exchange. At Mutundwe hill, thugs were cornered shooting 4 dead recovering a star pistol no. 32002896 old model and motor vehicle UBE 808F WISH,” Mr Enanga said before adding that no member of public was injured and or affected in any way.
