Four people have been hacked to death in Nakasongola District.
The victims who included two children and two adults were killed by an unidentified assailant in Wabigalo trading centre, Wabinyonyi Sub County.
Mr Patrick Lugonvu, the Parish Internal Security Officer said that the assailant armed with a machete attacked the victims in different places on Thursday between 1pm and 3pm.
One of the deceased has been identified as Lozio Matovu who was attacked in his kitchen while cooking food.
The District Police Commander Ms Patience Namara, LCV chairperson Sam Kigula and UPDF soldiers from Nakasongola army barracks visited crime scenes and embarked on an operation to hunt down the suspected killers.
“It's a terrible thing and a test to the security in our area that one person can hack to death a total of four people during daytime and still manages to escape. I urge everyone to be vigilant and report anything strange to the police, we pray that the suspect is arrested and we get to know his motive for doing this,” Mr Kigula said.
"We are on ground hunting for this killer, all the responsible authorities and residents have been alerted to help in tracing him and am sure he will be arrested and be brought to book,” Ms Namara said.
The dead bodies were transferred to Nakasongola Health IV mortuary for post-mortem which will be carried out on Friday.
