Kampala- At least 9,757 public servants who were deleted from the government payroll have been recalled for verification.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Public Service, a total of 7,040 public officers, who were deleted from the July 2016 government payroll, were invited for validation while another 2,717 will have their particulars verified.
Most of the affected public servants have their names on the payroll different from the names on the national identification register database.
“The under-listed 7,040 public officers are informed to report to Ministry of Public Service for payroll validation from August 8 not later than August 19,” the ministry statement reads in part.
The ministry said the civil servants should carry along their current payslip, letter (s) of appointment, promotion, posting instructions, letter of confirmation, introductory letter from the accounting officer and national identity card for the exercise.
“Anybody who will not turn up for validation by the stated deadline will be regarded as non-existent and will be permanently deleted from the payroll with effect from September,” the statement further reads.
However, the government said foreign service officers deployed abroad will be given a grace period of up to January 15, next year to turn up.
