The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders in the nine districts of Masaka Sub-region have endorsed President Museveni for party chairmanship in 2021.
This was on Thursday while celebrating party achievements in the Sub-region at an event held at Masaka liberation square and presided over by the party vice chairman for the eastern region, Mike Mukula. The event was also attended by various districts and Sub County leaders, MPs, Resident District Commissioners and security personal.
Before the gathering, the organizing committee spent two weeks documenting different projects started in the Sub-region during Mr Museveni’s reign. Among them was piggery, poultry farming, infrastructural development, and palm growing and water transport system in Kalangala District, among others.
Captain Mulindwa Birimumaaso, the Lwengo NRM Chairperson read a statement endorsing Mr Museveni to lead the party for another term in 2021.
“As leaders of NRM party in Masaka Sub-region, together with this gathering, we have decided to call him [Museveni] to lead us in 2021,” Mr Birimumaaso said to a cheering crowd.
Captain Mukula said he supports the move proposing that it should be spread to various parts of the country.
“What has been done here today should be copied by other parts of the country…Those who think that Museveni should go and they also lead will crash NRM. I therefore, want to thank Masaka people for the decision of considering Mr Museveni as a presidential candidate in 2021,” Mr Mukula said.
He however, blamed the NRM failure to win all the constituency seats in Uganda on hypocrisy and unnecessary fights in the party, wondering why leaders fail to deliver packages and services they are entrusted with.
