Hospital beds abandoned at Kyenjojo

Wednesday August 19 2015

Kyenjojo. More than 100 new beds are lying outside Kyenjojo hospital for more than two months.
The hospital authorities claim this is due to limited space in the hospital stores.
The beds were brought at the hospital but have not been kept in stores or distributed to other health facilities yet.
The hospital administrator, Mr Bruce Rwampunda, said on Monday that the beds were disposed of from Mulago National Referral Hospital.
The Kyenjojo District health office requested for the beds.
“The beds were given to Kyenjojo District but some were broken and need repairs but we had no space to keep them at the hospital stores so we had to keep them in the compound,” he said.
He added, “The beds are for Kyenjojo District health office but not for the hospital. We received them after the district health officer, Mr Charles Tusiime, requested that they should be kept at the hospital pending repair before distributing them to health centres.”
Mr Rwampunda said he raised the issue during the district top management meeting on Monday saying the beds are getting spoilt.
The district top management resolved that the Chief Administrative Officer, Mr Giles Kahika, instructs the district health officer to distribute them the way they are to the health centres and repairs be made from there.
