Kiboga- Councillors on the Kiboga District technical services committee have decried the poor state of roads.

According to Mr Robert Yamani, a youth councillor and also chairperson technical service committee, despite passing a Shs500m budget to maintain feeder roads, many roads in most sub-counties remain imuuiiupassable.

A visit to the sub-counties of Muwanga, Lwamata and Kibiga established that most roads are impassable whenever it rains.
Most of the roads have broken culverts and bridges that have not been repaired for a long time.

The worst road is the 4km Maji-Budimbo Road in Kapeke Sub-county.
Although some roads, including Kambugu-Kasegele-Kilyamuddu (16.5km), Mpangala- Biko (56.5km) and Kasega - Magi 4km have been repaired at a cost of Shs145m, members on the district technical service committee say they are not impressed with the work.

In an interview on Wednesday, Mr Yamani said his team detected shoddy work during an inspection.

However, Mr Ismail Mukiibi, the Kiboga District engineer, explained that his department receives only Shs500m for road maintenance annually yet they need at least Shs3b.

He said despite receiving insufficient funds for roads, they have managed to keep at least 50 per cent of the feeder roads in motorable condition, 20 per cent are in a fairly good condition, while 30 per cent have almost been cut off and can only be used by pedestrians.
