Kilak North Member of Parliament Anthony Akol is currently nursing injuries after he was involved in a road accident at Kafu junction in Kiryandongo District along Kampala-Gulu highway on Thursday morning.
After that accident that reportedly happened at around 1.30am, the MP was admitted at Kiryandongo Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment from.
According to the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr Julius Allan Hakiza, the accident happened when the Land Cruiser vehicle Reg. No. UAY 347W in which they were travelling, knocked the cows on the road.
“The accident was serious and it resulted from a collusion with the animals moving on the road. Police officers are still on the ground and I hope to get more information about it later,” Mr Hakiza said.
Ms Evelyn Akello, the wife to Mr Akol, told Daily Monitor that the MP's health condition is not alarming.
“He is stable but still in the hospital and he is experiencing terrible chest pain,” Ms Akello said.
