Kitagwenda County MP Abbas Mugisha Agaba has been arraigned in court and charged with obtaining more than Shs100 million by false pretence.

Prosecution contends that the 39-year-old ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Member of Parliament for Kitagwenda County in Kamwenge District and others still at large between August 2016 and June 2017 at Lugogo house Bypass in Kampala with intent to defraud obtained Shs 90m from one George Patrick Kasajja purporting that he was going to represent him in court as an advocate.

Prosecution further alleges that Mr Agaba and his accomplices still on run on June 2, 2017 at Café Mocca along Dewinton road in Kampala with intent to defraud obtained Shs 20m from Mr Kasajja pretending that he was going to represent him in court.
However, the MP denied all the charges before Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Miriam Okello on Thursday.

Mr Agaba was granted bail after depositing in court Shs2 million cash. His sureties who included Hassan Basajjabalaba, Chairman Board of trustees at Kampala International University (KIU), Igara East MP Michael Mawanda and Kasambya County MP Louis Gafa Mbwatekamwa were each bonded at Shs 20 million not cash
