Koboko RDC, 5 others perish in Masaka Road accident

Mpigi- Six people including the Resident District Commissioner of Koboko District, Isaac Kawooya have this morning perished in a vile accident along Kampala- Masaka highway.

Mr Joseph Musana, the acting Katonga regional police spokesperson identified the other victims as; Haji Abudallah Muwonge, 54, of Nyamitanga Mbarara, Anastasie Mukakamali, 66, from Rwanda, Abed Mansoor Ssemanda of Kakoba Mbarara, Aharizira Christine, 25, of Mutojo Ntugamo and her five-year-old female child.

The accident happened at Mpambire swamp on Friday morning when a Toyota Premio registration number UAZ 417D allegedly collided with a trailer registration number T513 DNK/T881 DNG, at around 6am.

Police say the accident happened when the trailer was overtaking another (all belonging to Makundi Transport and General Supplies Co. Ltd, Tanzania) and collided head-on with the speeding Premio which was coming from the opposite direction.

The Koboko Municipality MP and Investment Minister, Ms Evelyn Anite described Kawooya as a nationalist, saying he will be greatly missed.

The bodies have been taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for post mortem.
