LUWEERO. Residents of Kibanyi Village in Bamunanika Sub-county, Luweero District on Thursday morning woke up to the sad news of woman who was gunned down by suspected assailants who also made away with her boda-boda motor cycle.
According to police, Sarah Namazzi, 32, a mother of four was shot dead by yet unidentified gunmen after robbing her of her motorcycle Reg No. UER 677L.

The deceased’s daughter, Ms Lovincer Nakanwagi, said four assailants stormed their home and demanded for the keys of the motorcycle threatening to shoot her if tried to resist.
“My mother handed over the keys and the attackers ordered us not to make any noise as they moved out of the house. They shot her through the door as she tried to shut it behind them. She died on spot. We are surprised and don’t know how the attackers entered the house,” Ms Nakanwagi explained in a brief interview.

Mr Fred Ndibaka, the Kibanyi Village secretary and neighbour to the deceased, said he had gunshots and later heard noise from the neighbourhood. “When I got out of my house, I got the sad news that it was Namazzi who had been shot dead and the family motorcycle used as a boda-boda had been stolen by the assailants.

It is unfortunate that we do not have a police station in our trading centre yet the population is growing. We are also increasingly getting strangers who come in to buy coffee. Namazzi has been a hard working lady earning her income from the different farming projects,” he said.
Ms Rebecca Ayeta, the acting Luweero District Police Commander said they had launched a manhunt for the assailants.
“No arrests have been made but I am certain we will get those assailants,” Ms Ayeta said.
