Wilson Kalungi, a 54-year-old Field Force Unit (FFU) personnel attached to Kyazanga Central Police Station ended his life after locking himself inside his house at the Police barracks. The shocking incident occurred at Kyazanga Police station barracks on Wednesday when Kalungi pointed a gun at his chin and shot the bullet through his head, colleagues have said.

Mr Paul Kangave, the Southern Regional police spokesperson, said police have recorded statements from some of his colleagues in the barracks to piece together circumstances that could have led to Kalungi's death.

Mr Kangave, who described the incident as suicide, said investigations are yet to establish the motive of the shooting.
“The information we have gathered so far indicate that Kalungi has challenges with his family back home in Nakaseke District and we are yet to get more details,” he said.
He said Kalungi lost a lot of blood since the bullet shuttered his skull. His body has been taken to Masaka Regional Referral hospital for post mortem.
