NRM leaders in Lwengo District have called for the removal of former premier Amama Mbabazi from the post of secretary general.

While speaking at the NRM district leaders’ meeting at the weekend, the leaders alleged Mr Mbabazi caused some staunch NRM members to contest as independents thus giving chance to the Opposition to defeat NRM in many constituencies.

The meeting was presided over by Information minister Rose Namayanja and attended by the district NRM chairperson, Hajj Muhammad Muyanja Mbabaali and his wife Mariam Najjemba, who is also minister of State for Urban Development. Ndagwe Sub-county councillor Abdu Kabugo said in the next NRM national delegates’ conference, he will campaign for the removal of Mr Mbabazi and also called upon President Museveni to dismiss him to stop him from disorganising the party further.

Mbabazi to the youth
During the Kanungu Independence Day celebrations last Thursday, Mr Mbabazi said the current leaders have done their part and made Uganda good and therefore the youth should be ready to take over from them. “You must know that you have the responsibility of taking Uganda to a level safer and better than we have done. We have made conditions for you to develop the capacity to develop Uganda to higher level than we have taken it,” Mr Mbabazi said.
