Man kills daughter after accusing her of being a witch
A man in Zombo District is in detention for allegedly killing his daughter and burying her head under his bed.
The 37-year-old suspect is a resident of Oyumbi Village, Zeu Sub-county.
He was arrested by for murdering his 6-year-old daughter after reportedly accusing her of being a witch and disturbing the peace of his home.
Mr Rashid Odaga, the Oyumbi Village Local Council 1 chairperson, says the suspect defiled his daughter several times on Sunday before killing her on Monday.
The murder came to limelight when the suspect’s elder daughters found her sister’s torso in the pit latrine and alerted neighbours.
“This man would have escaped. We mounted a search and arrested him a distance from his home,” Mr Odaga said.
Mr Terry Kertho, the Zeu Sub-county chairperson, says the suspect whose wife abandoned the home, is a habitual criminal who recently returned from Kakira Government Prisons in Paidha, after serving a jail term.
“I was told this is his way of life. He lives a life of crime. He previously threatened to kill his mother forcing her to abandon her home,” Mr Kertho said.
Mr Abubakar Musiho, the Zombo District Police Commander, says they have preferred murder against the suspect.
