Mbabazi not yet at Namboole as Bukenya, Kazibwe arrive

KAMPALA- Former Vice President Prof Gilbert Baalibaseka Bukenya  and his predecessor Dr Specioza  Wandera Kazibwe are Saturday attending the National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Delegates Conference at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The two were invited alongside former Prime Ministers; Kintu Musoke and John Patrick Amama Mbabazi as well as ex- Kampala Central Member of Parliament, Capt Francis Babu.

He was Secretary General of the NRM from November 2005 to January 2015.

By midday Saturday, Mr Mbabazi was yet to show up but a special seat was spared besides Prof Bukenya and Dr Kazibwe.

The five were booked in a special seat in the main arena where President Museveni, the party’s national chairman was expected to sit.

Prof Bukenya and his predecessor sat just next to each other.

President Museveni arrived at 12:00pm, minutes after the arrival of Speaker Rebecca Kadaga and Vice President Kiwanuka Ssekandi.

The NRM conference is slated to adopt resolutions of the party’s Central Executive Committee and the National Executive Council to amend the constitution and scrap secret ballot as a method of electing party leaders.

The meeting is also expected to re-affirm the decision to front Mr Museveni as a sole candidate in the 2021 presidential elections.
