Meet KCCA deputy executive director

The newly-appointed KCCA deputy executive director, Ms Judith Tukahirwa Tumusiime, has been working with the authority as a solid waste management consultant since last year.
She was appointed by President Museveni this week.

A PhD holder in sanitation and solid waste management from Wageningen University in The Netherlands, Ms Tumusiime has written a number of papers on solid waste management.

She is a consultant in urban infrastructure, project planning and management, institutional strategic planning, resource mobilisation, policy formulation and advocacy, gender mainstreaming, sanitation and solid waste management, and environmental health.

She has spearheaded inter-governmental cooperation processes including trans-boundary cooperative programs such as the Lake Victoria Basin and Albertine Rift Region.

Ms Tumusiime also has experience in working with the government, development partners such as the World Bank and USAid, NGOs, as well as academic and private sector institutions in implementation of urban infrastructure development.

KCCA spokesperson Peter Kaujju says Ms Tumusiime has practical experience in applied research and working with community-based organisations operating in sub-Saharan African cities.

The deputy spokesperson KCCA, Mr Robert Kalumba, said she has been in charge of all the cleaning campaign projects and was appointed because of her qualifications, experience and for being “principled.”
