The State minister for Primary Education, Ms Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, has appealed to pastors and the entire nation to pray for a peaceful country ahead of the 2021 General Election.

While speaking in Kampala yesterday during a special banguet with Rev Dr Ock Soo Park, the founder of International Youth Fellowship (IYF), Ms Seninde asked Ugandans to commit the country in the hands of God so as to have peaceful elections.

“We are going in a period of elections, 2020 is the year nearing that period. So, you know what that means when I talk about it that way. What I am pleading for, we pray for the country. I am asking for your prayers, let us commit our country in the hands of God to have a smooth election,” Ms Seninde said yesterday.

Ms Seninde said most of the problems happening on the African continent are due to attitudes as she called for the need of a positive attitude.

“What I learnt from this organisation is that they teach people how to volunteer without waiting for salary. For us here in Africa, how many can do that? There are very few,” Ms Seninde said.

She added: “You (pastors) still have a lot when it comes to preaching to the youth about what to do, how they can do it and how they contribute to the country. When you look at education, you find many people complaining that the education system is lacking but as the concerned stakeholders, what kind of mindset do they have?”

Pastor Joseph Serwadda of Victory Chistrian Centre, Ndeeba, said the youth lack motivation and that there is need for them to be taught how to work hard.
