The former Accountant of Ministry of Local Government has been arrested and arraigned in court on charges of embezzlement and causing financial loss of Shs102.9 million to government of Uganda.
John Marie Iga was arrested on Monday by detectives attached to the Inspectorate of Government and arraigned before Chief Magistrate Pamela Lamunu Ochaya of Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo where he denied the charges.
He was released on bail ordered to pay cash bail of Shs10 million and deposit his passport with court.
Iga is currently an accountant working with Ministry of Foreign Affairs based in Denmark.
Iga was ordered to return to court on November 21, 2019 for mention.
The Inspectorate of Government prosecutor Phillip Munaaba told court that Iga embezzled the said money between 2014 and 2015.
