Mityana DEO in critical condition after car crash

MITYANA. The Mityana District Education Officer (DEO) Gerald Ssali also the director of Dennis Katumba Nursery and Primary School is admitted in critical condition at after he was involved in a car accident.

He is currently admitted to Mulago national referral hospital where he’s receiving treatment.

Authorities say the accident occurred Saturday morning at Kiyinda village, about one kilometer from Mityana town when his car collided with a bus owned by Link Bus Services.

Eye witnesses said the education officer was travelling from Mityana Town entering the main road to his home in Wabigalo village, Tamu Division in Mityana municipality.

It is reported that Mr Ssali was with his wife Ms Milly Ssali, the head mistress of St Dennis Katumba Nursery and primary School.

Doctors attending to them at Mulago said Ssali’s head was injured and that he had lost a lot of blood while his wife sustained injuries on the chest.

Mr Norbert Ochom, the Wamala region police spokesperson confirmed the accident and identified the bus driver as Wiliam Ssekitoleko, currently detained at Mityana Central Police Station and the bus is parked at Mityana CPS as investigations continue.
