Kampala- The widow to late rally ace Charles Muhangi and her stepson, who had been embroiled in property wrangle, yesterday agreed that in the interim, they should jointly administer the multibillion estate left behind.

The joint agreement came on the heels of a heated dispute between the widow, Ms Patience Mbabazi, and her eldest stepson, Mr Lionel Emmanuel Muhangi.

To that effect, the warring parties yesterday met before Justice Olive Kazaarwe of the Family Court in Kampala, with the jurist trying to harmonise the two parties.

At the end of the arguments, the warring parties agreed that in next six months, they should work together as joint administrators to minimise the wastage and plunder of Muhangi’s estate as they look for a long lasting solution to the property sharing dispute.

Earlier, documents seen by Daily Monitor showed that Mr Lionel had through his lawyers Byenkya, Kihika & Co Advocates, on January 7, written to his stepmother and uncle Mr Alex Katungye, warning them to stop collecting proceeds from Horizon Coaches and Mountain Gear Group.

Collected money
“It has come to the notice of our client that you (Ms Mbabazi and Alex M), have jointly collected money amounting to Shs60m from the tenants of the buildings situated on Plots 50-52 Nakivubo Road (otherwise known as Horizon city). These properties belong to Horizon Coaches Ltd,” Mr Oscar Kihika wrote to Ms Mbabazi on behalf of Mr Lionel.

To counter her stepson, Ms Mbabazi had last month run to court, seeking powers of attorney to keep off other claimants from meddling into her late husband’s estate until her application for letters of administration has been disposed of by the Administrator General.
