Museveni awards best Primary School teachers

  • The competition involved a total of 50 Primary School teachers from all over the country. Each of the 50 was awarded Shs1m by the President.
  • Mr Museveni while awarding the winners commended them for being the best teachers despite the difficulties they encounter.

President Museveni accompanied by the First Lady, who is also the Minister of Education on Saturday awarded the three best Primary School teachers for their excellent performance in the education sector.

The awarding ceremony took place at St Lawrence College in Maya, Wakiso District, during to closure of the 2nd National Primary School Teachers’ Conference.

The State Minister for Primary Education, Ms Rosemary Sseninde unveiled the three best teachers as; Mr Peter Ssenoono from Kyotera Primary School in Kyotera District, Ms Margret Asaba of Humura Primary School in Kole District and Mr Isaac Omony of Agole Primary School in Amuru District.

The top three teachers have each been awarded with a land title, a laptop and Shs1m among others items.

“I’m optimistic these teachers will act as examples to their colleagues who do not take teaching seriously,” Ms Sseninde said.
