Mutesa varsity gets new VC

Masaka.
Prof Arthur Sserwanga, formerly the Dean of the Faculty of Commerce at Makerere University Business School, has been appointed vice-chancellor of Mutesa I Royal University.

The new university chief is expected to be sworn in today by Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ll, who is the chancellor.
Prof Sserwanga will be the second vice-chancellor for the eight-year-old university after Prof Nsereko Munakukaama retired in 2011.
Prof Isaac Kigongo Bukenya, who has been acting vice-chancellor has been appointed deputy vice-chancellor, according to Mr Siraje Kizito, the university spokesman.

Mr Kizito said Prof Sserwanga was chosen basing on his ability and qualifications to improve the quality of education at the university.
