Budaka. More than 12 families in Kakoli Sub-county in Budaka District have been left homeless following the outbreak of a mysterious fire that razed their houses.
The most affected families are in the villages of Kakoli, Bukatikoko, Bulekwe.

Mr Christopher Bumba, a resident of Kakoli, said the fire started on Sunday afternoon from one house before it spread to others.
“We are not certain about the cause but we just saw the fire starting to burn the houses,” he said.

Mr Bumba said they are living in fear because the rate at which the fire is spreading from one village to another is alarming.
“The fire has caused unrest among the community members and many families have since relocated their household property,” he said.
The Kakoli Sub-county chairperson, MrJames Kasango, said they have organised a community meeting to find out the cause.

Alternatives
He said the affected people are seeking shelter in their relatives’ homes.
He, however, said there has been slow response from police and other authorities including the district leadership.
