NRM party city youth to receive Shs3.2b

Lucy Nakyobe (C) waves at the youths after arriving for the meeting

KAMPALA. National Resistance Movement (NRM) youth groups from the five divisions of Kampala are set to receive a special donation totaling Shs3.2 billion
from President Museveni, the party chairperson.
Mr Museveni will hand out a lump sum of Shs500 million to youth in each of the five divisions of the city and another Shs796 million to youth groups engaged in car washing business. With the five divisions getting Shs500m each, this means Shs2.5b will be passed on, and with Shs796m added for the car wash projects, the donation comes to Shs3.2 billion.
“We shall support you with the washing bays but not all the youth in Kampala work in washing bays. The President will give out an additional Shs500m to the youth in all divisions of Kampala,” Ms Lucy Nakyobe, the State House Comptroller, told more than 500 youth camped at Biyem Hotel in Kampala yesterday.
The youth, who had complained of being neglected, demanded the donation to help set up car washing bays.
Five of Kampala capital City Authority administrative units include Central, Kawempe, Lubaga, Makindye, and Nakawa divisions.
Ms Nakyobe said the money would help in enriching the skills and improving the per capita income of the youth groups.
“All of you,” she told the excited youth, “should go and form small groups where this money can be delivered. Once all of you are organised, please inform us so that we can send the money to you.”
The army’s Special Force Command (SFC) soldiers restrained the youth who had stormed State House Nakasero in Kampala to meet President Museveni.
They later booked an appointment for this week.
