Nsambya laboratory technician goes missing

What you need to know:

  • Mr Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, said Obongo who varnished shortly after Agaba’s disappearance confessed killing her and even disclosed where he had dumped her body.

  • Onyango said Obongo confessed to have killed Dr Agaba, saying she was threating his job by reporting him to the boss.

The family of Maria Nabuyunga, a laboratory technician at Nsambya Hospital are in panic after she went missing on Thursday last week.

Her sister Ms Jane Nakanwagi, said Nabuyunga left home in Buzinga, Makindye Division to meet her friends but she never returned and her phones are switched off.

“She was on leave. She went to see her friends. We don’t know what happened afterwards. Her phones are off and we haven’t received any call from anyone to tell us where she is,” Ms Nakanwagi said.

She said a case of a missing person has since been reported at Kabalagala Police Station but police is yet to get any clues on her whereabouts. She added that the family will hold a meeting to devise means on how they can work with police to search for Nabuyunga.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed to Daily Monitor that a case of a missing person has been registered and investigations are ongoing.

"Yes, the case was registered at Kabalagala and we have begun investigations. There is still scanty information on how she went missing. We only know that she was last seen on Thursday last week," Onyango said.

Nabuyunga’s disappearance comes days after police discovered the body of Dr Catherine Agaba, of International Hospital Kampala (IHK) in a septic tank in Muyenga, after she went missing on April 13.

Dr Agaba’s death was unearthed after the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence CMI and Police arrested one Ronald Ken Obongo, a security guard who was deployed at her apartment.
