Pakwach Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) has been arrested over failure to pay a debt of Shs 43 million as court costs.
Mr Godfrey Ogwang Okello was arrested by court bailiffs on Wednesday in Masindi town while driving his official car registration No.LG0002160.
He was arrested on orders of the Masindi High Court deputy registrar, Mr Simon Kintu Zirintusa who issued the warrant of arrest on April 25, 2018.
This comes after; Ms Ssansa Nalubega dragged the accused and Kiryandongo district local government to court in Masindi in 2012 accusing them of wrongful interdiction.
Nalubega said that the CAO interdicted her when she was a Town clerk of Bweyale town council.
“He based on wrong information while interdicting me and accused me of absconding from duty. I won the case and he was to pay court costs amounting to Shs 43 million,” Nalubega added.
By Press time (Wednesday evening), the accused was still in Masindi high court cells.
