Police confirm one dead in city accident

KAMPALA. Police have confirmed that at least one person died and they are still finding facts to reports that another person died at Mulago Hospital following a motor accident that occurred at the junction near Kiira road police station.

Mr Luke Owoyesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesperson said that the deceased, Phillipah Musimenta died at 1pm and was one of the taxi occupants that was crushed after a lorry failed to break and rammed into five cars.

“I am getting information about the second person who reportedly died while at Mulago Hospital, but for now I can confirm one,” Mr Owoyesigire said.

On Wednesday, lorry rammed into cars waiting traffic lights, crushing two taxis, two saloon cars and one pioneer bus.

However, some of the eye witnesses who helped in retrieving the victims from the accident scene indicated that there were more than three deaths due to the accident.
