Police disperse Besigye supporters in Jinja

JINJA-Police in Jinja District Saturday fired teargas and live ammunition to disperse supporters of former Forum for Democratic Change president, Dr Kizza Besigye.

The politician was in Jinja where he was hosted on a local radio station.

He explained his resolve to oppose President Yoweri Museveni and how he plans to oust him from power.

After the talk show, he was joined by a group of supporters who moved in a procession.

However, police fired teargas and live ammunition to disperse them.

When the standoff subsided, Dr Besigye was led out of Jinja town under tight security.

Dr Besigye, would however, retreat to Budondo, on the outskirts of Jinja Town and address supporters under tight security.
