Police Flying Squad operatives in the Albertine region have recovered six stolen laptops from suspected iron bar hit-men.

The laptops were recovered in operations conducted in on Friday and Saturday last week at Butiaba, Bugoigo and Walukuba landing sites in Buliisa district.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson, says the laptops were recovered with the help of hardcore iron bar hit-men who were nabbed last week by security operatives.

He says that in the same operation, the operatives recovered three sets of flat Television screens and hoofers among other items.

“They are six in number and more recoveries are expected. We are picking and recovering items one by one. These thugs hit people, some have died, others are still alive. When they hit these people, they grab whatever they have,” he says.

“We call upon the general public, whoever could have lost a laptop, or a TV and is a victim of iron bar hit men, can come to police and identify their property.”

Last month, Flying Squad operatives arrested four notorious iron bar hit-men who were terrorizing people in Hoima and robbing them of their personal belongings including laptops phones and money among others. Police also arrested two prominent businessmen accused of buying stolen items from the iron bar thugs.

The suspects whose names have been concealed by police for fear of jeopardizing investigations are locked up at Hoima Central Police station waiting to be produced before court. A number of Hoima residents have lost their lives and scores sustained injuries at the hands of the suspected iron bar hit men.

According to Hakiza, the operation to crackdown on the iron bar hit-men is ongoing to ensure that sanity is restored.
