Police has detained sixteen suspects and recovered twenty stolen vehicles and two motor cycles in operations in Mbale, Iganga and Kampala.

Police started the crackdown in Mbale District where four suspects were arrested and 10 cars found. These suspects revealed where and how they operate from and also revealed their hub in Kampala.
In Iganga District three cars were recovered while the rest were found in Kampala.

“We mounted an operation to crack down on this vice and in the last two weeks we have recovered 20 motor vehicles. We also recovered 2 motor cycles and so far 16 people have been arrested,” said Vincent Ssekatte the Crime Intelligence spokesman.

According to Mr Ssekatte, Naluvule in Wakiso district is the place where the racket of thieves is based.
He also revealed that majority of the cars are Toyota make.
