Police have summoned Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake over allegations of treason and unlawful escape from custody during and after Arua Municipality MP election fracas.

In a letter dated November 16, 2018 written to the MP through the Speaker of Parliament, police say they are conducting inquiries into the said allegations against the MP.
He is required to report to CID Headquarters in Kibuli on Wednesday next week.

"You are therefore in pursuance of the provision of Section 27A of the Police Act (As amended)) required to appear before the Deputy Director Investigations at CID Headquarters, Kibuli on November 21, 2018 at 0900 hours who will guide you on the next course of action," reads part of the letter signed by the director criminal investigations, AIGP Grace Akullo.
On September 3, the ailing MP was charged with treason and unlawful escape before he was released on police bond and cleared to travel to India for medical attention after he was beaten by security officers during the Arua Municipality MP election.

Zaake is accused of escaping from legal custody at Gulu hospital.
Zaake was arrested alongside Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine and 33 other suspects over allegations of stoning President Museveni’s motorcade on August 13.
The suspects were allegedly tortured during arrest. Zaake was then admitted to Gulu hospital in critical condition.
However, police later said he had escaped after he was dumped at Rubaga hospital by people believed to be army officers.
