The Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura, has said the suspects arrested in the Rwenzururu deadly attacks will be treated according to the roles they played in the violence.
“We have different categories such as actors, planners and organisers who will be handled accordingly to their actions against the State. We have reinforced our system, we shall not leave any stone unturned,” Gen Kayihura told journalists on Friday at Kasese Central Police Station.

He announced the release of the Rwenzururu prime minister, Mr Noah Nzaghale, and the chairperson of the veterans, Mr Yolamu Mulima, who were arrested on Thursday on charges of inciting ethnic violence. They were implicated in last week’s attacks in Kasese, Ntoroko and Bundibugyo districts that left about 90 civilians and security personnel dead. “We have released on police bond the two kingdom officials as our investigations into the matter continue. We arrested them because they were implicated,” Gen Kayihura said.
He also wondered why the Rwenzururu leader, King Mumbere, was in panic over the arrests of the kingdom officials, saying he was disappointed with him.
