Kampala. Renowned pastor Aloysius Bugingo of House of Prayer Ministries has been taken to court for allegedly emitting high noise beyond the acceptable levels during his prayer sessions.
The suit against Pr Bugingo was lodged before the High Court in Kampala yesterday by Mr Ali Serunjogi, a resident of Makerere Zone in Kawempe Division where the church is situated.

Mr Serunjogi says the residents had been enjoying quiet peace until Pr Bugingo started his church that has subjected them to untold suffering.
He alleges that while conducting prayers, Pr Bugingo amplifies unpleasant and unbearable sound which interferes with the quietness and peace of their neighbourhood.
He also sued Kampala Capital City Authority and the National Environmental Authority for failing to regulate the noise emitted by the church.

Suit
“That ever since the 1st respondent (Pr Bugingo) commenced church operations in our area, we are experiencing untold inconvenience and or interference with our night and day activities as a result of the excessive, unbearable emission of noise/sound from the 1st respondent’s premises/church,” Mr Serunjogi states in his suit.
He says there are many hard working people living in the neighbourhood who require peace and quiet during day or night.

Another resident, Ms Anne Waako, who operates Hotel Renata, also swore an affidavit in support of the suit stating that her business has been adversely affected by noise from the church.
