Boda Boda riders cautioned aganist mob justice

Rukungiri. The catechist of Kihumuro church Richard Beigana warned Boda Boda riders against mob justice in revenge of the thought to be suspects to stealing their motorcycles. He was on Sunday 20th October 2019 addressing Boda Boda riders of Buyanja Sub county Rukungiri District at Kihumuro church.
“Avoid mob justice it may claim lives of the innocent people let the police do their duty of keeping law and order and also protecting people’s property and lives,” He said.

He asked them to seek God’s protection in their day to day operations and avoid spending their money in bars.
“Most of you spend all your money in bars and women forgetting to do developmental things like paying school fees for your children and buying food that is very wrong please seek God’s help”. He said.
The advise comes at a time when the President Yoweri Museveni has asked the deputy Inspector General of police Maj. Gen. Muzeyi Sabiti to devise means of combating crime with in the Kampala metropolitan which is also seen as one way of curbing the killing and theft of Boda Bodas’ in the country.

On the same day, Retired army officer Maj. Godfery Katamba also advised Boda Boda riders to be vigilant especially at their stages of operation.

He said that if security and protection of Boda Boda riders is to be achieved, they (Boda Boda) riders have to consider knowing each other and having identifications.
“I think nothing can be done by police to safe guard these Boda Boda riders if they as themselves don’t know each other and they are not vigilant amongst themselves”. He said.
“I believe theses Boda Boda riders kill themselves imagine letting someone join you because they have brought stage money and you forget to inquire more about them that shows lack of seriousness”. He said.
