Isaac Sseruyange, was the deputy head teacher at Green Hill SS, Kyamulibwa in Kalungu District

MASAKA- Police in Kalungu District are investigating the murder of a secondary school deputy head teacher.

Isaac Sseruyange, the deputy head teacher at Green Hill SS, Kyamulibwa in Kalungu District  was killed on Friday and his body dumped  at Kyanjale Village on the Masaka –Mutukula road .

According to his colleagues at Green Hill SS, Sseruyange, was a part-time teacher at another school in Lwagulwe Village, Masaka District.

Mr Hakim Mawanda, one of Sseruyange’s colleagues at Green Hill SSS, said he left the school on Wednesday and was expected back on Friday.

On Friday, Mr Mawanda said, friends tried to reach him via his mobile phone but it was switched off the entire day which caused anxiety at the school.

“It is possible that he was waylaid by the killers as he was returning from the school where he had a part-time teaching job,” Mr Mawanda said on Saturday.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that Sseruyange was strangled by assailants who used a piece of cloth which was abandoned at the crime scene.

Southern Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr Paul Kangave, says police recovered Sseruyange’s phone at the crime scene.

“ The killers took nothing from him which means that they only wanted his life,” he said.

This is the second person to be murdered in a similar manner in a space of three months in Masaka sub-region.

In April, assailants strangled Lwengo District accountant, Eric Ngabo and dumped the body on Masaka-Mbarara highway.
