Seeds of Gold is set to hold its 14th edition of the Farm Clinic at Bulindi Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Initiative (Zardi) in Hoima District.

The event which was launched on Tuesday at Daily Monitor offices in Namuwongo, will be held by Nation Media Group, on Saturday 10 August, in partnership with Bank of Uganda, Stanbic Bank and National Agricultural Research Organisation (Naro), among others.

During the launch, Ms Rosette Bamwine, the head of of Agriculture Credit Facility (ACF) at Bank of Uganda handed over a cheque of Shs20 million to Mr Moses Ssesanga, the human resource director at Nation Media Group.

The theme for the farm clinic this year will be “Climate Smart Farming”.

With the ongoing effects of climate change, invasion by persistent pests and diseases, and lack of proper agricultural and farming input and information, the farm clinics continue to help the farmers navigate these challenging times.

Experts from Naro led by Mr Sylvester Baguma, the director of Bulindi ZARDI will educate, inform and teach farmers on how to cushion themselves from these conditions that impede on their optimal agricultural productivity, among others.

“The Seeds of Gold Farm Clinic 2019 is a continuation of the big idea of solving farmer constraints through addressing the challenges and adverse effects of climate change. This farm clinic comes against the backdrop of a myriad of challenges that farmers contend with. These include crops and livestock diseases and pests,” Baguma said.
