Seven hospital staff interdicted over abuse of office

At least seven staff members of Kalisizo Hospital in Kyotera District have been interdicted over abuse of office.

The interdicted staff members include; the hospital medical Superintendent, Dr Berna Nakanwagi, assistant hospital administrator, Mr Richard Bantubalamu, the in-charge of Uganda National Expanded Programme on Immunisation (UNEPI ) and four night watchmen.

The Kyotera Chief Administrative Officer, Mr Fred Kalyesubula said that he acted on reports that the affected staff members were responsible for loss of a refrigerator and drugs at the hospital. The said items reportedly went missing last week.

According to the interdiction letters dated September 10, Mr Kalyesubula stated that the interdicted staff members are highly responsible for the irregularities at the facility.

“We have asked them to step aside as we carry out further investigations into their alleged misconduct,” he said in an interview on Friday.

He said that during interdiction, the affected staff will be receiving half of their monthly payments.

Dr Edward Muwanga the Kyotera District Health Officer said they have already asked Police to start investigating the suspects.

“I warn other workers in other facilities in the district against negligence, no one will be spared once we discover that they are not properly doing their work,” he said.
